Overview

Medical Records Tech

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center - Willamette Valley's largest privately own multi-clinic cancer care center - is looking for a Medical Records Tech to join their team. An important part of the patient experience, the Medical Records Tech helps to maintain, protect, and distribute medical records for all WVCI clinics. A strong understanding of medical office operations, as well as high level of computer competency are desirable skills for this position. Experience in medical records is a plus! The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $18.00-$28.77. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Copies, mails, and/or faxes patient chart information as requested and authorized, documenting all processes.
  • Assists in preparing and filing all internal and external correspondence and medical reports into patients' electronic medical record according to filing system.
  • Gathers medical records from community providers to prepare charts for new patient visits.
  • Makes copies of dictated interval notes accordingly.
  • Assists in purging deceased and inactive charts as scheduled and according to guidelines.
  • Sends outgoing faxes and distributes incoming faxes.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
  • Prepares correspondence, memos, forms and other typing as requested by supervisor.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years experience, preferably in a medical office setting
  • Previous experience in a medical records experience preferred

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
